Smith Jr High Student Participants

The 2008-10 Cohorts of students are engaged in the program at Smith Jr High School. These seventh grade students who are in participant year-1 of the program, meet twice a week, at the Smith Jr High Industrial Tech Room 500, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 3:40 pm to 5:20 pm.

JazmynBio I joined the afterschool program because I thought it would be fun and I knew I'd need a graphing calculator for 11th grade. I enjoy being with my friends and meeting new people at the meetings. I like to read, watch TV, and spending time with my friends and family. I am really glad I tried out for this program and I‚Äôve had a lot of fun. LindeeBio I thought I would like the afterschool program because I like math and science. I like that we can talk to friends and build the robots. I also like to read and scrapbook. I play the violin. OscarBio I became interested in the program because I wanted to be an architect. I enjoy building robots after school. I like to jump ramps with my BMX. IrisBio I was first interested in joining the afterschool program because I wanted to know something about robots. Also I thought it would be a great chance to meet new people in this school. I enjoy the meetings because I learn something new everyday. I like to ride bikes and dance for fun. I also like to hear music and read. ChristinaBio I was interested in joining the program after the the first meeting. It was fun and legos were involved. It' also a good thing for my college resume. I enjoy building things with my friends and being ale to hang out with some awesome people. I like to read, play video games. I play the flute and I am very HYPER! CuongBio I joined the program to improve my chances, it's free and I get snacks and we have fun! I like to play video games, read, watch T.V., play with my friends. I like variety and to be different. I consider “weird“ a complement. KaylaBio I was interested in joining the program because it has to do with electronics, and computer programs. I enjoy almost all of the afterschool meetings. I like to read, play my computer and listen to music. DarinBio I was interested in the program because of the events that would be studied. I enjoy the mental challenges the afterschool program gives. I like to read, build legos, and play the cello. I really enjoy academics.

JorgeBio I first joined the program because my mom made me apply. I enjoy the afterschool program because we can actually talk to our friends. I like to play football and I am very sarcastic. AllynBio I joined the program because I want to experience fun and enjoyment in all the studies we get to do. I enjoy building the robots, programming and experiencing the fun of legos and robots. I like to read, play and ride my bike. Also, I'm on the Honor roll. AndresBio I joined the program because I love to play with legos and to learn how to build a robot. I enjoy getting to talk to my friends in the afterschool meetings. I like to play video games and go on the computer and build legos. I was born in San Francisco. I like to play video games, football and build stuff. I have actually flown a plane. DominiqueBio I am interested in the program because I enjoy working on robots. I like the meetings because I like being with my friends and learning new things. I play the violin and I like making new friends. AlexBio I was first interested in the program because it sounded fun! I enjoy the meetings because I get to build stuff. I also like to play video games. I enjoy learning new things at the afterschool meetings. I love to sing for fun a s well as playing soccer. I am from a very small town in the eastern part of the U.S. AathanasiosBio KaceeBio I was interested in the program because I wanted to build, construct and learn about computers. I enjoy building and programming. I like to read for fun. I am also a diver and belong to a club at ASU. The club is called the Sun Devil Divers. EstebanBio I became interested in joining the afterschool program because we were going to be making robots so yeah! Who wouldn't be interested? I enjoy that the robots would actually do what you programmed them to do. The meetings are really interesting and fun. I like to ride my bike and wank around my neighborhood for fun. DianaBio

JessicaBio I was first interested in this program because I love science. I enjoy being able to hang out with friends and listen to music and play the guitar. DevinBio I became interested in the program because we get to use robots. I enjoy the snacks in the afterschool meetings. I like to play the piano, video games, football, and build, create and make stuff. I skipped a grade and was born on Friday the 13th. DakotaBio I became interested in the program because at the time I was playing legos and doing lots of math so there is no reason why I wouldn't like it. I enjoy the fun people in the program. I like to play video games, read, and ride my bike. I am also creative. ElizabethBio I joined the program because building a robot sounded interesting and exciting. What I enjoy about the after school meetings is that I get to see a lot of my friends. For fun I like to play my violin or go see a movie with my friends. I own three kittens, and I love LEGOS. KelseyBio I was first interested in the program when they said we would build robots and I love building things. I enjoy coming and just hanging out and learning new things.
